Hollow Knight: Silksong: Still Set for 2025 According to Nintendo

It’s been a long, quiet road for Hollow Knight: Silksong fans. With so few updates from Team Cherry over the past couple of years, many players have been left wondering — is the game still even coming out soon?

Well, we finally have a reason to breathe a little easier: Nintendo themselves have just reaffirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong is still on track for a 2025 release. And no, this isn’t some vague hint — it’s right there in print, featured in the latest issue of Nintendo Magazine.

In the magazine’s list of upcoming titles for the Nintendo Switch (and the newly announced Switch 2), Silksong is clearly shown among other major games like Witchbrook and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam. Next to it? A clear "2025" release window.

This is huge news, considering the game was delayed indefinitely back in mid-2023, and updates have been extremely rare ever since.

What This Means for Silksong’s Future

Even though Team Cherry themselves haven’t made a new announcement yet, the fact that Nintendo — a major publishing partner — is confidently listing the game for 2025 tells us a few important things:

  • Development is still active, and progress is being made behind the scenes.

  • The team might be preparing for a reveal event later this year — possibly a Nintendo Direct or Summer Game Fest showcase.

  • A late 2025 release, likely in the fall or winter season, seems more realistic now than ever.

For fans who feared the worst (cancellation rumors were flying earlier this year), this listing feels like a quiet but strong confirmation: Silksong is coming — and it’s coming soon.

Why the Long Wait?

It’s important to remember that Team Cherry is a small studio, and Silksong has grown far beyond the scope of what they originally planned. What started as a simple DLC expansion evolved into a full standalone sequel, promising new worlds, 165+ unique enemies, brand-new mechanics, and a story that builds even deeper into Hollow Knight’s beautiful (and haunting) universe.

Quality takes time, and from everything we’ve heard — especially from early playtesters — Silksong is shaping up to be well worth the patience.

Final Thoughts

At this point, just seeing Silksong officially listed with a 2025 release window feels like a small victory.Whether you're here for Hornet’s fast, acrobatic combat, the darkly beautiful worlds, or just to get lost again in Team Cherry’s handcrafted environments, it’s clear the wait is almost over.

Hopefully, with E3 season and the next Nintendo Direct just around the corner, we won’t have to wait much longer for a trailer — and maybe even a final release date.

Until then, Hornet awaits. 🐝🗡️
